Not bad, but primitive.

The story is interesting and I was curious to see what happened next. I've only played the first few levels, but I intend to beat this game and find out how it ends.
Also, I liked the attempt to destigmatize nudism.

The platforming is nice, but the background and foreground use the same assets, so initially, I kept trying to jump on a block because I didn't realize it was a part of the background. It took me a few minutes.

The coins, while a nice addition, don't really fit the theme or do anything other than add to a score. They feel tacked on simply because it's a 2D platformer.

The combat is pretty bland with a basic attack and block. I wouldn't mind it so much if the enemies had a tell before they attacked, but their attacks are instant. I can't anticipate when I should and shouldn't block. I started having more fun when I tried to go pacifist and started jumping over and running past the enemies instead.

All in all, it's not bad, but it could have been better. If you ever try to make another game, I wish you luck.

HAhahah!
Yeah... That was one of my first games and made with the little to no free time I had back then, so I can't deny it has a lot of flaws... ^^;

And indeed, I started working on a lot of other games, from which you can find the demos in my itch.io account.

But yeah... none of them got propper polishing or conclusion because, just like this one, I had to work on them while juggling several real life time-consumers, and also having a lot of other projects to work on... ^^;

Still... thank you for the feedback! ^^

Also, if you're interested in the story, I also developed this into my own full Fantasy universe, with comics, short tales, several stand-alone images and so on! ^^
You can find all of it on my Deviantart account! ^^

I remember playing this years ago.

I remember enjoying it, but in hindsight, this was very clearly made by someone who was in the middle of high school. With the amount of swearing and side characters killing each other for no reason, it reached the point of edginess that I just went "We get it! You're SO COOL!"

I also have some issues with the writing. Grammar issues aside, your fixation on guns ruined it a bit. Everyone in the game felt compelled to point out what kind of gun they had for no real reason. People don't talk like that.

Finally, both games started and ended abruptly and I had no reason to care about what the protagonist was doing. I don't know his background, his ideals, or his motivation for why he does what he does. I don't even remember his name. That's how little I was invested.

This game was made over 15 years ago, so you probably already realized some of this and just don't care about my complaints at all. That's fair, but this review feature is here for a reason.

I remember playing this when I was 13/14. Good times.
Thanks for the memories. Shame that "The GetLaidener" never came out.

I remember when this game was new. Those were good times.

The only real complaint that I have is nitpicky, but in space, people don't just start floating. Realistically, he still would have come back down at the end.

But I'd have to be a real asshole to complain about a cartoon-looking video game not being realistic.

I remember this. I'm glad it's still available. Thank you.

My only complaint is that the cake doesn't heal much.

I remembered when this was new, and how much I looked forward to part 2.

I waited 15 years for a sequel and you let me down.

Such a simple, basic game, and it took the internet by storm.
It reminds me of the old days.

Good luck with the kickstarter version.

I remember playing this when it first came out.

Honestly, the whole "Chuck Norris" meme is pretty dated now, but this is still a fun way to pass the time.

As someone trying to become an artist, I'd like to hope that I won't end up like this.

It's clear that many people like this little game, so maybe it's just me, but when it comes to games that aren't really games, and just something with a message, I don't care. It's why I don't like walking simulators too.

But, I did try to finish that painting, so I was immersed a little bit. I'm curious what the good ending is, but I doubt I'll ever see it. This game is hard.

I remember playing this years ago. It was amazing. Ten years later, it still holds up.

Also, sort of unrelated, but nowadays, I've been learning more and more about art and animation, and now I can see bits of how this game, as well as the other Dad movies, were made. For example, I realize now that this was drawn with a Mouse. I'm sure Wacom tablets were way more expensive back in 2009.
Now, I'm not criticizing, I'm just saying I see it now.

I feel like rewatching and replaying these have helped me learn. Especially that use of parallax for the pseudo-3d. That's pretty cool.

I hope to see Dad again in the future.

I got a Wacom tablet for Christmas in 2017 and I've been drawing ever since.
I have a webcomic called "The Adventures of Penny and Judge" About a fun loving 7 year old and her more cynical father.
